Walking on Things (Make-up)
Walking on Things (Make-up) is the first iteration of a new performance series titled Walking on Things. In this initial chapter, three women move repeatedly across a floor covered with hundreds of cosmetic products. Wearing high heels, they walk over eyeshadows, blushes, powders, lipsticks and other make-up, gradually crushing the objects beneath their feet. Make-up operates as a performative tool of femininity: a material through which culturally legible forms of femininity are constructed and made visible.
In the performance, these products are removed from their conventional place on the body and placed beneath it, shifting from instruments of bodily transformation into materials transformed by the body’s weight and movement. As the performance unfolds, the initially recognizable cosmetics become pigment, fragments and residue. Colours mix, packaging breaks, and the floor develops into an increasingly painterly surface produced through repetition.
Walking on Things (Make-up) explores the unstable relationship between femininity, beauty,
consumption, value and excess, turning the cosmetic object from something applied to the body into something physically altered by it.
The work produced within the WORKROOM project – a residency and production platform launched in 2023, focused on experimental, multimedia, and research-based practices, with particular interest in works exploring alternative modes of feeling, thinking, and being.

Nicole (b. 1997, Quito, Ecuador) is a Paris-based interdisciplinary and conceptual artist whose work examines how the female body is constructed, displayed, and instrumentalized within systems of desire, value, and representation. Working across performance, video, and installation, her practice engages with the aesthetics of advertising, eroticism, and the art market, often using stillness, staging, and theatrical poise to reveal the mechanics of the gaze.
Recent performances include Represented (Art Basel Paris, Grand Palais, 2025). Her ongoing performance series At Your Feet (2025–) has unfolded through multiple iterations, including Stand By (Marcelle Alix, Paris, 2025), Count the Days Until (Bétonsalon, Paris, 2025), Linger (Paris Internationale, Paris, 2025), Be Ready (Shmorévaz, Paris, 2025), and Be Patient (Yes AI Can Festival, Rostock, 2026). Other performances include Accueil, Table d'entrée (Galerie municipale Jean-Collet, Ivry-sur-Seine, 2026), Bonita Bonice (WIG, Mexico City, 2026), El Trencito (Rudimento, Quito, 2026), TV Buddha (Mira Art Fair, Paris, 2024), and Amor y Besitos (DOC, Paris, 2024).
