ŠUM Journal: Unreality Mode II
Title: A Playbook of Bewilderment
Text: Luja Šimunović
Publishing date: January 2026
Remember those days bleeding into nights, immersed in online spaces, the bedroom air turning strange and sticky. Doors, stairs, mirrors—the fabric of the everyday transfiguring into a dreadful promise of otherworldly vibrancy. Surely, there must be more than meets the eye? Scrolling, clicking, looking, reading; anonymous stories latching on, unraveling new truths. And often it takes only a shift of your gaze for that fragile reality to crumble, leaving your boring, ordinary self once again asking—again and again and again—where did it all go?

Kristian Kožul: Degenerates, Monsters, and Traitors (1573)
Exhibition text for Kristian Kožul's exhibition at Trotoar Gallery (Zagreb)
Text: Luja Šimunović
Co-author: Klara Petrović
Publishing date: May 2025
Wise serpents and innocent doves beware: this room is full of big bad wolves. A perverse pastoral, a site of a trickster weaving plots against all us fools. You may recognize the story. You may even recognize the faces. It takes us back to 1573, to the wake of the Slovenian-Croatian Peasant Revolt, also known as Gubec’s Rebellion. The revolt lasted twelve days and took the lives of over 3,000 peasants – an uprising, so the story goes, triggered by the despicable cruelty of one Baron Ferenc Tahy.

ETC.#3: Selling out
Title: A sellout on selling out
Text: Klara Petrović
Publishing date: March 2024
Firstly, a disclaimer. My main source of income is influencing on social media. Because of this, my opinion of a sellout is inevitably tied to my own perception of myself. This makes me
an apologetic accomplice, I have no high horse when this subject comes up in my second life as one of three in a curatorial collective. My horse is very short and stout and prefers to stay silent.

KUNSTFORUM: Parasitäre Paradoxa
Title: Tiny-stepped and Dangerous: PARASITES at the 36th Youth Salon in Zagreb
Text by: Jurica Mlinarec, Klara Petrović, Luja Šimunović
Publishing date: 2023
"We would now define the parasite as that which adapts, adopts and transmutates and that which actively works between the bounds of fiction and reality, the material and the digital, the human and non-human. The parasite is a menace which must work in-between, which must escape the rationalizing grip of the modernist promise to reach a utopia through progress and reason. But while that was a failed promise, this parasite makes no new promises. It creates conditions for new affective experiences, for new stories made of other stories, new worlds within worlds."

ETC.#2: Fever Dream
Title: THIS IS HOW WE HIKE RAINBOWS
Text: Jurica Mlinarec, Klara Petrović, Luja Šimunović
Publishing date: March 2023
They descend on a white fluffy apparatus covered in colorful digits and take us to a space that is not a space at all. Atop, motionless as if frozen in time and space, are two strange, alien figures cradling newborns.
Andrej Beštak and Anja Leko revealed a soft poetic space with their ambient installation that came to life at the opening of the exhibition in the form of an extended, bodily sculpture. In THIS IS HOW WE HIKE RAINBOWS, they are reflecting on the transformative role of forgetting as a meditative method that places us somewhere inbetween, betwixt being and without being.
