Winter program
INDECENT, Živa Božičnik Rebec, Andrej Beštak & Anja Leko, ROSE kolektiv, Paula Tončić
Speed, machinic structures, cute babies, digital ectoplasm and party kids are coming to KUĆĆA through November and December 2024! The program takes place in our project space in Zagreb's Trešnjevka at the address Nova cesta 126 (courtyard).
This cycle features five events where emerging local and regional artists and collectives will premiere productions realized through KUĆĆA’s annual projects. Since 2021, KUĆĆA has been dedicated to supporting and promoting emerging voices in the art scene, and this winter series is a presentation of our collaborative processes. Curated by Klara Petrović and Luja Šimunović, the programme embraces experimental and multimedia practices that tackle pressing contemporary issues—from sustainability and technological infrastructures to digital mediation and identity formation.
INDECENT
23.11.2024. @19:00
The program cycle kicks off on Saturday, 23.11.2024., at 19:00, with Robert Fenrich's public debut of his fashion brand, INDECENT. Fenrich’s work spans experimental and multidisciplinary practices that push the boundaries of image, ambience, and sound. With INDECENT, he creates a platform to experiment with fashion design while engaging with themes such as the sustainability of fast fashion, marginalized identities, power structures, and the drive for consumption in contemporary capitalism.
The first collection, titled 365KM/H, will feature the performance IS IT THE JOURNEY OR THE DESTINATION YOU DESIRE?, with six performers engaging in a dynamic exploration of identity. DJ Le Chocolat Noir's set and HV$VH’s soundscape design will create an immersive audio experience for the performance.
Živa Božičnik Rebec
29.11.2024. @19:00
Slovenian artist Živa Božičnik Rebec will present her work for the first time in Croatia. Božičnik Rebec’s practice employs speculative strategies to explore the agency and materiality of technological and cybernetic spaces, crafting environments where non-human realities function as autonomous, active systems. Her new installation realized for KUĆĆA, _Antinode19182028, delves into themes of objectivity, alienation, and expanded ecology, using computational methods to encode existing patterns and environments, setting the stage for new experiential conditions.
Andrej Beštak & Anja Leko
10.12.2024. @19:00
Artists Andrej Beštak and Anja Leko continue our public program with the premiere of their performance cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute. Known for their work in installation, performance, and video, Beštak and Leko describe themselves as spatial storytellers, creating an emotional dialogue between artwork and audience. Their style is often playful, absurd, and strange, serving as a lens through which they examine contemporary socio-political themes. In this new performance, they take on the role of lecturers, deconstructing “cuteness” not only as a charming quality but as a tool to challenge dominant neoliberal narratives.
ROSE collective
13.12.2024. @19:00
ROSE collective—Bruna Jakupović, Ivor Tamarut, and Lana Lehpamer—will present the next phase of their Rose Velvet project, which began during the 2023 LIVING ROOM residency. Rose Velvet was conceived as a chimerical influencer and experimental platform, through which the artists examine our algorithmically mediated reality and sense of self. Their latest iteration, ECC/R (Etherometric Corporeal Compressor), is a multimedia installation that incorporates spiritualistic motifs to communicate with the elusive, intangible figure of Rose Velvet.
Paula Tončić
20.12.2024. @19:00
The public program concludes with a presentation by this year’s DNEVNA SOBA resident, Paula Tončić. Through sound, video, and archival practices, Tončić explores liminal spaces—between reality and fiction, material and immaterial, tangible and intangible. Her work often focuses on archiving, classification, and collection, frequently incorporating grotesque and kitsch elements. Her HEATERS research reflects these themes, with a publication that documents her exploration of the decline of Zagreb’s rave and alternative club scenes over the past decades.
